The 1911 Revolution brought a number of inpatients to the Hospitals. Most of them were injured by bomb explosions. 49 This American missionary hospital helped treat about 200 soldiers of Mao Zedong’s Communist Red Army during the Long March of 1934-35 when they were marching on Lianzhou.
